Awarded to a Territory scientist who is working in industry, research, the government or independently who has applied scientific solutions for the benefit of Territorians.

Primary school STEM teacher of the year
The primary school STEM teacher of the year is awarded to a passionate, knowledgeable, and innovative educator who inspires curiosity and fosters a love for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in students. They employ creative teaching methods that make learning engaging and relevant, while integrating hands-on experiments and real-world applications to deepen understanding. By creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment every student feels valued and demonstrates academic progress in STEM.
Secondary school STEM educator of the year
The secondary school STEM educator of the year is awarded to a dynamic and inspiring educator who possesses deep knowledge and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. They skilfully translate complex concepts into engaging and understandable lessons, utilising hands-on experiments and real-world applications to captivate students' interest. They are committed to fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills that encourage all students to explore their potential in STEM fields. By continuously improving their teaching practices, they empower students to excel academically and ignite a lifelong curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM.
Contribution to STEAM outreach and engagement
Postgraduate
Awarded to a project led by a post-graduate student (PhD, Masters by Research and Honours), or post-graduate student that has contributed to the increased interest, representation or participation of the general public in STEAM.
Promoting Women and Girls in STEM representation
Sponsored by Engineers Australia
Awarded to the best project or individual that has contributed to the increased interest, representation or participation of women and girls in STEAM.
Outreach Provider
Awarded to the best project from an outreach provider that has contributed to the increased interest, representation or participation of the general public in STEAM. An Outreach Provider can be an individual or organization such as STEAM related businesses, institutions, museums, parks, NGOs etc
Best Science Week event
Sponsored by the NT Science Week Coordinating Committee
Awarded to the best Science Week NT 2025 project or event that has contributed to the increased interest, representation or participation of the general public in STEAM.
Inspired NT STEM hero of the year
Awarded to an outstanding individual with a career in STEAM, that has contributed to the increased interest, representation or participation of youth in STEAM.
The Radicle Science Awards (Previously NT Science Week Awards) were created to celebrate new areas in STEM application, education, and outreach.
Have you or do you know someone who has contributed towards an innovative Northern Territory with a technologically skilled workforce, a scientifically literate community, and scientifically well-informed decision-makers? Let us know! We are looking for our NT STEAM stars.
Winners will receive a $200 cash voucher.
Nominations and Ceremony timeline:
Nominations will be open from the 1st to the 30th of September 2025
Finalists will be announced on the 10th of October.
The Awards Ceremony will be held at CDU Danala (Darwin City) on
Saturday the 1st of November 2025 from 6pm to 9pm.
Selection Criteria
1. Self-nominations are allowed.
2. Individuals and organizations can be nominated to more than one award by the same nominee.
3. Awards can be given to a specific project or individual, as specified in each category.
4. A project is considered an event, activity, workshop, product (online of physical) or program. It can had taken place in one or multiple days, as well as one location or multiple locations.
5. The project must have happened in the NT.
6. Applicant (organization or individual) must be based in the NT.
7. The projects main focus must be related to STEAM outreach, education, or industry and research, as specified in each category.
